Congress, acting on House Republicans' innitiative, has delayed raising the debt ceiling until after the Discovery Channel's presentation of Shark Week.
"We can't be distracted by Washington gridlock while Bear Grylls is in the shark suit," said House Leader John Boehner.
This is one issue garnishing bipartisan support.
"I agree," said President Barack Obama, "it would be a travesty to tarnish the American institution that is Shark Week."
Both parties have agreed to let the U.S. government default on its debts, and possibly ruin the world economy, until next week.
"We are considering having a 'Shark City' Summit Thursday at 9 pm," said President Obama.
